Westmoreland New Union Cemetery Association Records
Collection: ORG-002
Dates: 1851-1914, 1920
Description: The two volumes in this collection were created to record the Cemetery Association’s activities and finances from its founding in 1851 through 1915. However, interleaved documents also include a 1920 financial report. Topics include lot sales, erecting a receiving vault, railroad bonds, fencing, tree removal, the potters’ field, and more. The minutes do not include a list of routine burials, but they occasionally name lot owners or persons buried at the cemetery under unique circumstances, e.g., a reinterment. The Westmoreland New Union Cemetery Ledger 1910-1914 records cash received by Westmoreland New Union Cemetery, 1910-1915, for lot sales, lot care, and interments. The interment entries include surnames, sometimes with given names and often with initials or Mr., Mrs., or Miss. The ledger also records “Trust Funds for Perpetual Care of Lots” money received 1900-1914. Loose papers include a 1920 financial report.
