Blog > Schieferstine Scrapbook

Background

One of the Westmoreland Historical Society's recent donations is a scrapbook created by a member of the Schieferstine family. The volume covers 1950 to 1962 and includes twenty-seven pages of newspaper clippings primarily focused on marriages, deaths, and interesting local news.

The scrapbook is fragile, and many pages are detached, but a digital copy is available for use at the Historical Society Room.

Many of the articles are from the Rome Sentinel and can be found online at Old Fulton NY Post Cards, but the scrapbook clippings are valuable because they provide easy-to-read original copies.

Name Index

A name-index for this scrapbook includes both primary names, such as the subjects of obituaries, and secondary names, such as the survivors listed in an obituary. This index and can be viewed here.
